Bobbie Davis was a spirited woman committed to family and community, and her courageous determination held her in remarkably good stead as she fought escalating battles brought on by complications from diabetes. She eventually succumbed on the first day of January 2014, at the age of 78.
When Bobbie’s family gathered at her funeral service to pay their last respects, numerous family members had important things to say in eulogies they prepared. Together, the vignettes they shared created a beautiful mosaic profiling a woman of compassion and good humor who loved life gratefully, lived life honestly, and created a warm home environment that fostered a strong, closely knit family.
At the family’s request, Wordsmith Associates collected all of the eulogies and compiled them into an informal publication called, A Tribute to Bobbie. In addition to eulogies from Bobbie’s husband, three daughters, and two grandsons, the compilation includes announcements and some family tree information. Importantly, the publication also incorporates over 50 photographs of family members and situations spanning the decades of Bobbie’s life.
Those who have worked with documents and images related to their own family histories – they know that one common problem is having old photographs but not knowing who the people are because the photos are unlabeled. To eliminate that problem, Bobbie’s memorial booklet concludes with a list of photographs and the names of all the people depicted throughout the publication. It thus makes A Tribute to Bobbie not only a touching keepsake, but also an especially valuable family record.
